Serve on the Board

Bike Indianapolis exists to increase ridership and advocate for bike riders in Indy. We bring bikers together to ask for better infrastructure with a combined voice, using the best data available to make our case. We help show new riders the joy of moving around the city by bike, and share our collective knowledge with other vulnerable road users. We also have a lot of fun biking together.

If these sound like worthwhile endeavors, you may want to consider serving on our board. You’ll be joining a group that cares deeply about the issues facing bike riders in our community. We are not the only bike organization in Indy: Central Indiana Bicycle Association (CIBA) puts on some great group rides, Momentum Indy has brought crit racing to the streets with an incredible festival, Pacers Bikeshare helps provide rentable bikes when and where we need them, and Freewheelin’ Community Bikes and Nine13 Sports do incredible work teaching kids. But Bike Indianapolis is the only group whose core mission is to give a warm welcome to the newest bike riders on the street, and to fight hard to provide a safe city to ride in, making the case for better infrastructure and educating both drivers and riders on how to share our streets.

The governance of the board is critical to our work. As a board member, you’ll help keep Bike Indianapolis focused on the mission at hand, guide the organization to greater capacity, and leverage your own connections to build a stronger bicycling community. The more diverse our board, the better we can serve the entirety of central Indiana as we work for better infrastructure, expanded educational programming, and biking opportunities that catalyze further ridership.
