Why You Should Sponsor Bike Indianapolis

Bike Indianapolis has been directly involved in many projects that have increased the number cyclists in and around Indianapolis. This list contains some, but not all of our successes:

  • Created the Indy Bike Guide bicycling map with a new most up-to-date version just released in Oct. 2024.

  • Helped to establish the Indianapolis Fatal Crash Review Team.

  • Continues to advocate for safer city infrastructure by:

    • Calling on the City to pass Vision Zero and establish an $8 million annual Traffic Safety Triage Fund.

    • Advocating for new bike lane infrastructure to fulfill the goals of Vision Zero, including a fully protected bike lane on Pennsylvania St.

  • Created the Bike Indianapolis Safety Fund to provide high visibility safety equipment to cyclists.

  • Collaborated on development of Indianapolis and regional bike plans which included 7.2 miles of new bicycle infrastructure added to the city plus the widening of 4.8 miles of the Monon Trail in 2022.

  • Organize and manage Indianapolis’ annual Bike To Work Day and Bike to the 500 every May.

  • Hosted the first ever national gathering of Major Taylor cycling clubs, the Major Taylor Invitational in 2022 and, due to the overwhelming positive response, hosted it for a second year in 2023.

  • Staffed educational and informational tables and workshops around the city supporting our organization and programs.
